Ethnically defined dietary traditions intertwined with religious practices are powerful contextual factors that determine the trajectory of dietary behaviors. Practical strategies highlighting best practices drawn from the research literature will be shared with diabetes care and education professionals who manage patients with chronic diseases for maximizing success with positive behavior change. Presenters will allocate generous time for audience participation and discussion during this overview of the impact of cultural and religious factors on dietary behaviors.
