The 2022 update to the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management and Support (DSMES) was conducted with the goal of making them easier to understand and able to be implemented by the entire healthcare community. The Standards are now the basis for accreditation and recognition of DSMES services by ADCES DEAP and ADA ERP, allowing them to use the DSMT G-Codes for Medicare reimbursement. This session will provide an overview of the 2022 National Standards for DSMES, the review process and evidence behind the standards, and a deep dive into a few of the significant changes to look for in the 2022 National Standards.
