Over 4.4 billion people are on social media and approximately 1 in 10 Americans turn to social media for health information. DCESs have the expertise to be at the forefront of diabetes care and education, especially to help inform the public and form more profound connections with patients. In this session, DCESs will familiarize themselves with different social media platforms and understand the power social media can have in building trust, expertise, and connecting with their audience. Many lack the know-how and training to step into entrepreneurial roles that go beyond their healthcare setting. This session will highlight some of those roles, understand the barriers that hold us back, highlight how to push through them, and elevate DCESs to the next level.
