Screening for T1D-related autoantibodies has been shown to help improve outcomes, including prevention of DKA, opportunity to develop skills to sustain optimal glycemic management, and potentially reduce stress and anxiety. Early detection of autoantibodies predictive of risk for T1D may give patients and caregivers time to learn about T1D to prepare for future disease management. We will review how CDCESs can support patients and their families throughout their T1D screening journey.
