Working with emerging young adults presents a unique set of challenges for clinicians. Many independence-building milestones are experienced during this time, such as moving away from their nuclear family, new relationships and access to alcohol. These milestones, coupled with the constant attention a chronic illness like diabetes requires, create a perfect storm that could lead to declining health outcomes. Join the College Diabetes Network (CDN) for a lively panel discussion on how we can address the unique needs of today's young adults living with diabetes, including offering support and garnering their trust. Presenters will discuss how to best connect with this population and how to provide care and education with compassion during this high-risk and transformative time of life.
