The CDC estimates that more than 88 million adult Americans have prediabetes and 8 out of 10 don't know that they have it. Progressing from prediabetes to T2D can take as little as 3-5 years. At this urban teaching hospital, with 8,000 employees, concern was raised as to how many may unknowingly have prediabetes. To increase awareness, the CDC Prediabetes Risk Test was made accessible to all employees on the hospital's portal. In addition, free A1C testing was provided to those identified as at-risk through the employee health clinic. Lastly, the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) was implemented at no charge to employees and accessible virtually. Employees were rewarded for participation throughout this ongoing program.
