There were 3.78 billion social media users worldwide in 2021. Many are using social media to get information about their health conditions such as diabetes and prediabetes. It's critical that we as DCESs actively engage and have a presence on these platforms to provide valuable science-based information that positively impacts the lives of people with diabetes. Connecting and engaging with people with and affected by diabetes, sharing information about who we are and what we do, and communicating the value of our profession will help establish the DCES as the go-to expert. This presentation will provide information about the impact of social media and its benefits, help attendees assess their current social media presence, and learn key steps to implement and enhance their reach.
